Celestial Fireworks Chapter 1

Chapter 01
Chapter 01
*
I transmigrated into a novel as the younger sister of the male lead. My new name? Lin Xinyu. I had beauty, money, and power—life was smooth sailing for the first twenty-two years in the world of the Lin family, rulers of the sprawling Yucheng.

But one day, disaster struck out of nowhere: both the heroine and I were kidnapped by the villain.

What does it mean to be minding your own business at home, only for calamity to drop out of the sky? As I stared at the villain—Zhou Yichen, who was idly twirling a dagger—I shrank back like a frightened quail, trembling all over.

The heroine, Jiang Yue, put on her best damsel-in-distress face and whispered to me, “Don’t worry, Xinyu, your brother Xincheng will definitely come to save us!”

That’s some blind faith in the male lead if I’ve ever seen it.

Me: ..........

Yes, in the original plot, my brother does show up—but he’s here to rescue you, not me!

My brother, Lin Xincheng, arrived at the abandoned warehouse in no time. He was strikingly handsome, tall and lean, the very picture of a male lead. Even with a dagger pressed to our backs by the villain, his face didn’t show a hint of panic.

He looked at Zhou Yichen calmly. “What do you want in exchange for letting them go?”

Zhou Yichen, with his dangerously beautiful features and a wild, cold glint in his eyes, smiled. The blade pressed closer to my neck.

His voice was icy, tinged with amusement. “Lin Xincheng, you can only choose one.

“One is the woman you love; the other is your beloved sister.

“Choose.”

My brother’s expression remained unreadable.

Jiang Yue frowned slightly. “Zhou Yichen, you’re still this childish, even now?”

My brother sighed, almost lazily. He flicked his wrist.

A pebble shot out, striking Zhou Yichen’s hand with unerring precision. In an instant, the security team that had been lying in wait stormed in, pinning Zhou Yichen’s arms behind his back and forcing him to his knees before my brother.

No one expected what happened next: my brother lifted Zhou Yichen’s chin, studied his furious, sullen face, and—right in front of everyone—leaned down and kissed him.

“I’ve only ever chosen you. From the very start, it’s always been you.”

Jiang Yue: “?”

Me: “?”

I was dumbfounded. My worldview shattered into pieces.

Brother, what are you doing? Isn’t your official pairing the heroine? How did you end up with the villain? Wait—does this mean the heroine just got dumped?

I didn’t dare look at Jiang Yue’s face, imagining her heartbreak.

Suddenly, an arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me into an embrace that smelled faintly of white tea and jasmine.

Long, slender fingers held me firmly.

Jiang Yue’s damsel-in-distress mask vanished, revealing a face that was the undisputed beauty among all the women in this novel—stunning, radiant, and utterly captivating.

She smiled, her voice low and sultry: “Lin Xincheng, since you won’t even choose your own sister, then your sister belongs to me.”

My brother: “!”

She gently stroked my stunned face, her eyes—a pair of mesmerizing phoenix eyes—filled with open temptation. “Xinyu, see? Your brother doesn’t care about us at all. From now on, let me protect you, okay?”

I was completely blank.

For the first time, a crack appeared in my brother’s usually unflappable composure.

“Jiang Yue! What are you trying to do?”

Jiang Yue batted her lashes innocently. “Isn’t it obvious? Since you chose Zhou Yichen, I’ll take care of Xinyu.”

My brother was furious. “When did I say I was giving up on my sister? Xinyu! Don’t listen to her—get over here!”

Zhou Yichen, sensing the chaos, tried to escape, only to be knocked out cold by my brother and pulled into his arms.

My brother’s face was icy, making his intentions clear: Zhou Yichen, he wanted. But he wasn’t giving up his sister to the heroine, either.

I was dizzy from all the twists and turns. “I…”

Jiang Yue’s tears welled up instantly, her lips trembling. “Xinyu, did you forget what your brother just said? He only ever chooses that villain who kidnapped us. He doesn’t care about us at all!”

I stared at her beautiful, tear-stained face.

When a beauty cries, the whole world seems to lose its color.

My heart fluttered, and before I knew it, my mouth moved on its own: “Jiang Yue… don’t cry. I’ll go with you.”

My brother’s face turned pitch black.

By the time I realized what I’d said, it was too late.

My brother’s voice was low and menacing. “Lin… Xinyu!”

I hurriedly hid behind Jiang Yue, clutching her sleeve, forcing a dry smile. “Bro…”

He gritted his teeth, barely containing his anger. “Are you coming here or not?”

I shivered, ready to give in and shuffle over…

But a strong arm yanked me back into that jasmine-scented embrace.

Me: “…”

Brother: “…”

Jiang Yue smirked. “Lin Xincheng, that’s not fair. You got Zhou Yichen—even if it was unintentional, you scared my little princess playing this game . What right do you have to scold her?”

My brother’s eyes were like ice.

Jiang Yue’s were full of mockery.

Their gazes clashed in the air, sparks flying.

I used to think they were the perfect couple, their every glance filled with sweetness. Now, the filter was gone. There was nothing but rivalry and mutual annoyance.

I bet even Jiang Yue was sick of calling him “Xincheng gege” by now.

Just as the standoff reached its peak, a sleek black  sedan screeched to a halt outside.

A neatly dressed butler stepped out, his face kind and gentle. “Miss, I apologize for our tardiness. We’re here to take you home.”

Jiang Yue tossed her curls, a subtle floral fragrance wafting through the air.

Then, in one smooth motion, she scooped me up in a bridal carry and deposited me in the car.

Me: “…”

“Lin Xincheng, you should settle things with Zhou Yichen before you come for Xinyu. Don’t drag her into your mess again,” Jiang Yue said coolly, her tone as commanding as my brother’s, leaving no room for argument.

My brother’s lashes lowered, lost in thought.

A bodyguard asked nervously, “Young Master, should we go after Miss?”

He shook his head. “No need.”

He stood silently, watching the car disappear into the distance, his expression unreadable.
